HANOVER, N.H. - The women's rugby team capped off a full day of conference matches, placing second in the Ivy League. The Crimson went toe to toe with the Dartmouth Big Green in a very close Championship Cup Final game, but it was Dartmouth who lifted the Ivy Championship Cup on Saturday, April 22 (ESPN+).
What To Know
- The Crimson had two teams compete in the tournament in separate divisions. The Harvard B team played exhibition style, where the results and points do not count toward the season record.
- The Harvard and Harvard B teams had a two-game winning streak at the start of pool play. The Harvard B team went 4 - 1 on Saturday, falling to the Dartmouth B team in the Club Cup Final, 41 - 5. The Harvard team went 2 - 2 today, with both losses awarded to Dartmouth.
Harvard Game Notes
- In the first match of the day against Princeton, first-years Lennox London, and Victoria Stanley each scored two tries. The Crimson displayed exemplary offense and defense in this game. Four other Crimson players could land tries but stopped every Tiger before they crossed into the try zone. The final score was 51 - 0, giving Harvard the shutout win.
- The Crimson played an excellent second match against Brown. Stanley landed two tries, with Cameron Fields and London each scoring one of their own. The Crimson beat the Brown Bears 24 - 5.
- In the team's last pool play match, the Crimson went head-to-head with NIRA and Ivy champion Dartmouth in a fast and intense game. Harvard started off this game strong with an exciting first minute of passes and off-loads, resulting in Tiahna Padilla scoring the first try. The Big Green won this match 31 - 10, but both teams would meet again in the Cup Championship Final match that evening.
Playoffs
Dartmouth and Harvard immediately advanced to the Cup Final as the first and second seeds after pool play. The field was lined with spectators and fans cheering as this was the tournament's last match overall. Both teams showed high energy, speed, and skill from the kick-off, each landing tries early before going back and forth, trading places as leaders in the game.
Lennox London scored an impressive try right before half time putting the Crimson in the lead. Padilla tied up the score 17-17 mid-way through the second half coming into the final few minutes. Dartmouth, however, put in one more try, before the final whistle blew and became the new Ivy League Champions.
Harvard B Game Notes
- The B team was first to hit Brophy Field with Cornell. The Big Red gave a solid performance, but it was no match for the Crimson to take their first win of the day with a score of 22 - 17.
- In the second game against Yale, the B team doubled their winning streak (33-5). Co-captain Elianne Sacher scored the first and last try of the match, in addition to two from Carly Lehman and one from Kade Kelsch. Jordan Roe executed four out of the five possible conversions.
- The B team capped off pool play by going undefeated as they beat the Columbia B team 30-0.

The Crimson will take a bye week to prepare for the National 7s Championship, which will take place from Saturday, May 6 to Sunday, May 7 in Houston, Texas.
