BRAMPTON, Ontario – Another Harvard Women's Hockey Alumnae is set to compete on the International Stage as
Becca Gilmore '22 was selected to represent the United States at the 2023 IIHF World Championship. Gilmore and Team USA begin their journey for the coveted Gold medal this afternoon, when they open up the action in a preliminary round matchup with Japan at 3 PM on NHL Network.
The former Crimson star recently pulled on the red, white and blue jersey in five contests for Team USA during the 2022-23 Rivalry Series against Canada. Since her graduation, Gilmore has also found success in the professional hockey world, signing a contract with the PHF's Boston Pride in 2022. Gilmore played in 11 regular season games for the Pride, notching six points in that span. Gilmore also played in both the team's postseason games, leading the squad with two points off a goal and an assist in the Isobel Cup Playoffs.
Gilmore, a 2022 graduate from Wayland, Mass., amassed 125 points her collegiate career and sits at No. 14 in program history. Her assist (74) and goal (51) totals rank her at No. 12 and No. 22 in program history. The 2022 Ivy League Player of the Year, Gilmore also helped lead the Crimson to the Beanpot and Ivy League Championships during her senior season.
ABOUT THE 2023 IIHF WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The U.S. Women's National Team is one of 10 teams competing at the 2023 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship from April 5-16 in Brampton, Ontario.
The tournament features ten teams divided into two groups of five. Team USA is competing in Group A alongside, Canada, Czechia, Switzerland and Japan. Group B includes Finland, Sweden, Germany, Hungary and France. Each group will play a single round-robin series before the playoff round.
All five teams from Group A and the top three teams from Group B advance to the playoff rounds. Winners of the quarterfinals advance. The two semifinal winners will play in the gold medal game, while the two semifinal losers will play for bronze.
