CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Crimson sevens rugby team will head to Houston, Texas this weekend to compete in the USA Rugby Sevens Collegiate Championship from Saturday, May 6 to Sunday, May 7. All games will be streamed on the Rugby Network.
Harvard will begin the championship tournament with pool play, where they will participate in Pool D along with University of New Haven (10:40 a.m. EST), Grand Canyon University (1:30 p.m. EST) and Penn State University (4:30 p.m. EST). If they finish as one of the top two teams in their pool, they will move on to the cup quarterfinals at either 6:20 or 6:40 p.m. EST. What to Know
• The Crimson last competed at the Ivy League Sevens Championships from April 22-23, where the Crimson A and B teams combined won six games and fell to the Big Green of Dartmouth in three others. The Harvard A team faced Dartmouth in the Ivy League Championship Final, falling to the Big Green by a score of 17-24.
• Harvard previously met multiple opponents that will appear in Houston at the Tropical Sevens Tournament and Crimson Sevens Tournaments earlier in April. The Crimson faced Sacred Heart (W, 34-0) and American International (W, 41-0 and L, 19-10) at home at Crimson Sevens and met Lindenwood (W, 36-7) and Life University (L, 21-17) at Tropical Sevens.
• Harvard is 1-1 against Dartmouth in sevens tournaments this year, as they defeated the Big Green at the Tropical Sevens Tournament with a score of 19-7.
• At the 2022 USAR Collegiate Championships, the Crimson beat Central Washington, Penn State and American International in pool play before advancing to the quarterfinals against Sacred Heart. After a quarterfinal 25-12 win, they advanced to the semifinal game where they fell to Dartmouth 17-12.
