Ashley Wang and football junior
Charles DePrima have earned Harvard Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week presented by The Harvard COOP for the week of Sept. 25-29, Harvard announced on Wednesday.
Ashley Wang, Women's Volleyball, Applied Mathematics
Wang has had an impressive senior season with four triple-doubles under her belt going into Ivy League play. In Friday's match against Dartmouth, she was just a few kills and block assists away from yet another triple-double as the Crimson won their first Ivy League game on the road. Wang scored 13 points for the Crimson with 9 kills and 8 block assists. She put up 24 assists as well.
The New England Football Writers/Grinold Chapter Gold Helmet Award recipient, DePrima accounted for a personal-best four touchdowns on the night in Harvard's win over Brown. He set career highs in completions (15), yards passing (203) and passing touchdowns (3) and carried the ball a personal-best 14 times for 98 yards and a touchdown. Each of his touchdown passes went for at least 14 yards (14, 15, 31) and during the drive that ended in a three-yard rushing TD, he ran for 54 yards, with rushes of 10, 20, nine, 12 and three yards. That scoring drive covered 56 yards and gave Harvard a lead it would not relinquish with 55 seconds left in the first half. Every instance in which Harvard scored (5 times), he orchestrated scoring drives that took six plays or fewer.
