CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -
Ben MacDonald had a career night as the Crimson stormed back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Colgate 6-3 on Saturday night. In a great offensive showing four different Crimson scored on the way to a big win over the reigning ECAC Champions. Harvard returns to action next Friday against Quinnipiac.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Harvard fell behind quickly in the first period after the Raiders scored two goals in just over four minutes. However, leading goal scorer,
Joe Miller tipped home a
Ryan Healey shot from the point to bring the Crimson within one.
Going into the second, Harvard pushed back, with
Marek Hejduk and
Casey Severo scoring goals just 27 seconds apart – the fastest consecutive goals this season.
After a penalty on Colgate,
Ben MacDonald and the red-hot Crimson power-play was able to give the Crimson a two-goal lead with eight minutes left to play in the second period. MacDonald crashed the net and was able to poke the puck over Gylander for his first goal since early November.
Just two minutes into the third period,
Ben MacDonald added his second goal of the night off a shot from a weird angle that beat Gylander. The first multi-goal game of MacDonald's career helped propel the Crimson to an eventual victory.
With the Raider net empty,
Joe Miller potted his second of the night for another three-point evening for the sophomore.
