CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 20 men's hockey (2-2-0, 2-2-0 ECAC) fell to Colgate 4-2 on Friday night.
Marek Hejduk and
Mason Langenbrunner both picked up their first goals of the year in the defeat.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Colgate netted the first goal of the game after Brett Chorske made a hard move to the net and it just slipped by
Aku Koskenvuo.
With some momentum in the offensive zone, the puck came back to
Mason Langenbrunner who fired a one-timer to tie the game at one.
Ryan Fine and
Jack Bar assisted Langenbrunner's second career goal to knot the game at one just three minutes after the Raiders goal.
The Crimson killed off a too-many-men penalty at the end of the period after another strong showing from the PK unit.
Koskenvuo made the save of the game minutes into the second period after making multiple point-blank stops in the crease. After keeping the game tied the puck shot up to
Michael Callow who tried to go blocker side on Takacs but the netminder was just able to get a piece of it.
Colgate regained the lead after putting home a rebound to take a 2-1 lead.
Mick Thompson caused a turnover on the Colgate breakout leading to a flurry of chances for the Crimson but Takacs managed to keep the puck out just before the TV timeout.
Casey Severo caused yet another defensive zone turnover leading to a beautiful pass from
Mick Thompson who found
Marek Hejduk with a wide-open net to tie the game yet again. Hejduk picked up his first of the year on the tying goal.
Colgate regained the lead with just over three minutes left in the second period.
Koskenvuo slammed the door shut on a Raiders breakaway five minutes into the third period to keep the deficit to one. The junior had 25 stops with just over ten minutes left to play in regulation.
Ryan Healey had the best look for the Crimson in the third after splitting the Colgate defense. Getting two cracks at it, Healey couldn't beat Takacs.
Colgate picked up its fourth goal after a deflection in front squeaked by Koskenvuo.
