Women’s Swimming and Diving Earns Home Win Over Boston College

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving won for the second time in as many days as it defeated cross-town foe Boston College, 213-87, Saturday afternoon at Blodgett Pool. With the dual-meet victory, the Crimson improves to 2-0 on the season, while the Eagles fall to 1-2.

How it Happened

  • Harvard captured the first nine events and 14 of 16 on the day en route to its first victory over the Eagles since its last meeting in 1999. The Crimson improved to 12-4 all-time vs. BC and has now won 12 straight head-to-head meetings.
  • The Crimson swept the relays, first capturing the 200 medley relay and closing the day with a win in the 200 free relay. In the medley, Molly Hamlin, Aleksandra Denisenko, Isabella Alas and Sydney Lu combined to post a time of 1:43.39, easily outdistancing their teammates (Blythe Wieclawek, Gabriella Augustyn, Kenzie Padilla, Mandy Brenner), who finished in second place (1:45.53). It was the same story in the free, as Lu, Brenner, Hamlin and Wieclawek won the event in 1:35.16, to edge Alexandra Bastone, Kristin Hakonardottir, Padilla and Kaylee McDonald (1:36.38).
  • Hamlin and Brenner were double winners on an individual swimming basis vs. the Eagles. Hamlin won the 200 free (1:51.61) before returning to the pool deck to win the 100 free (51.66). Brenner, meanwhile, was victorious in the 50 free (24.12) and the 100 fly (55.92).
  • Elizabeth Miclau, meanwhile, secured first place on the 1- and 3-meter diving boards. First up was the 3-meter competition, which she won with a score of 309.23. The senior then won the 1-meter event with a 296.33 performance.
  • Other Harvard winners on the day included Alas (200 IM – 2:04.88), Augustyn (100 breast – 1:04.91), Bastone (1,000 free – 10:00.62), Stephanie Iannaccone (200 breast – 2:17.83), Lu (200 fly – 2:03.12) and Wieclawek (100 back – 56.98)
