CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Football collected 17 All-Ivy League honors, including six on both the first and second teams, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. The 17 selections were the most among the Ancient Eight.
Â
Representing the Crimson on the all-conference first team were unanimous pick
Mitchell Gonser (LB) and his defensive teammates
Ty Bartrum (DB) and
Jacob Psyk (DL). On the offensive side,
Cooper Barkate (WR) and
Mike Entwistle (OL) were first-team honorees, with
Scott Woods II landing on the team as a return specialist.
Â
Four of Harvard's six second-teamers were offensive players in quarterback
Jaden Craig, athlete
Charles DePrima, lineman
Austin Gentle and tight end
Seamus Gilmartin.
Damien Henderson (DB) and
Tyler Huenemann (DL) were the Crimson's second-team defensive athletes.
Â
The remaining five Harvard selections were honorable mention picks in
Xaviah Bascon (RB),
Eric Little (LB),
Gavin Shipman (DB),
Sebastien Tasko (P) and Woods II (WR).
Â
For Gentle, the 2024 honor marks the third time in his career he has been recognized and the second straight season he has landed on the second team (2022 honorable mention). Bartrum, meanwhile, headlines a group that has been honored twice after being a second-team choice in 2023, and a first-teamer this year. The others who were honorable mention in the past and were all-Ivy this season include Tasko (2022 honorable mention), Barkate (2023 honorable mention), Entwistle (2023 honorable mention), Huenemann (2023 honorable mention) and Shipman (2023 honorable mention).
Â
For Psyk, Woods II, Craig, DePrima, Gilmartin, Henderson, Bascon, and Little, meanwhile, this year's all-Ivy accolades represent the first time they have been recognized for their on-field performance.
Â
The Ivy League also announced its academic all-conference team, which featured defensive lineman
Dominic Young-Smith.
Â
Harvard finished its season with an 8-2 record (5-2 Ivy) and was the first team to clinch at least a share of the 2024 conference title before Dartmouth and Columbia earned a piece of the crown. The Crimson, which posted an 8-win campaign for the third time in the last four years, ended the regular season ranked No. 25 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll after rising to as high as No. 17. Harvard now has 19 Ivy League titles to its credit after winning back-to-back championships.
