SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Men's ice hockey dropped a 6-2 decision to Union on Friday night in upstate New York. Down 6-0 heading into the third period,
Zakary Karpa and
Michael Callow added goals early in the third period to bring the Crimson within four. Harvard is back in action tomorrow against RPI in its final regular-season road game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Derek Mullahy made a big glove stop on the breakaway early in the first period to keep the game scoreless in the early minutes. Union was able to convert off the subsequent face-off after chipping in a shot from the point that was lying in the crease. Harvard went into the first intermission down 1-0.
Union scored in bunches in the second period to take a 6-0 lead into the second intermission.
Aku Koskenvuo replaced
Derek Mullahy between the pipes after the fourth Garnet Chargers goal.
Zakary Karpa started the third with a goal after a shot from the far circle hit the post and just trickled over the line for his fourth of the year. Two minutes later,
Michael Callow found himself alone in the slot and walked in to score the second goal of the game for Harvard.
