HAMDEN, Conn. – The 2024 Harvard women's ice hockey season came to an end on Saturday afternoon in the opening round of the 2024 ECAC Championships after the team fell to the No. 9 and fifth-seeded Quinnipiac Bobcats on the road. The Crimson could not contain a steady Quinnipiac attack that came away with a 9-0 result.
The team will now move forward onto the 2024-25 season where it will look to continue its growth and progression.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Harvard women's ice hockey made the trip down to Connecticut to compete against the fifth-seeded Quinnipiac Bobcats in the Opening Round of the ECAC Championship.
- The Crimson faced off against the Bobcats for the third time this season, looking to correct a four-game skid against its ECAC foe.
- The Bobcats threw the first punch in the matchup, netting their first goal at the 13-minute mark in the first period. The Bobcats would score once more in the period to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
- Starting goaltender, Emily Davidson, made 17 save in the first period to keep Harvard within striking distance.
- The Crimson came out looking to get back on track in the second period, creating a pair of early chances. Mia Biotti and Kaley MacDonald both had good looks on net turned away as the Bobcats kept the Crimson off the board.
- Back-to-back Quinnipiac goals pushed their lead to 4-0 at the midway point in the second period.
- Three more Crimson attempts were turned aside, as the Bobcats went to tack on one more goal to its total, taking a 5-0 lead at the end of the second.
- Quinnipiac went on to score four more goals in the third period to skate into the quarterfinal round after a 9-0 victory.
