Campbell Nets Six Goals as Women's Lacrosse Defeats High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Harvard women's lacrosse improved to 5-1 after a dominant 22-5 win on Saturday against High Point. Leading 13-3 at the half, Riley Campbell, Maddie Barkate, and Callie Hem all had hat-tricks in the first half. The Crimson split the North Carolina trip with the win over the Panthers. Harvard will return to Ivy play next week with its third consecutive road game when it travels to Philadelphia to play the nationally ranked Quakers on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Maddie Barkate opened the scoring after getting a free position opportunity from behind the cage. Working her way to the net, the senior scored her first of four goals in the opening quarter.
  • Riley Campbell scored the second goal of the game for the Crimson after getting some space on the outside and firing a shot that beat the Panthers netminder.
  • Similar to the second Crimson goal, Barkate added her second of the night from the side of the cage.
  • Barkate completed the first quarter hat-trick after getting a pass from Grace Mullahy and putting it away from the side of the net.
  • The left side of the net was Barkate's spot this afternoon after she netted her fourth goal of the quarter off a pass from Callie Hem to make it 7-1 Crimson.
  • Callie Hem netted her first of the game off a free-position rocket right before the end of the quarter.
  • Riley Campbell scored two quick goals to open the second quarter for her fourth of the game.
  • Chloe Provenzano was solid in net after making three stops with the best of the afternoon coming off a Panthers free position look. Rebecca Arpano and Lizzie Francioli also got some time between the pipes in the win.
  • Hem, Barkate, Campbell, and Charlotte Hodgson combined for 18 of the 22 Crimson goals.
  • Hodgson was all over the field after recording two goals, three ground balls, four caused turnovers, and two draw controls.
GAME NOTES
  • Barkate was one goal shy of her career-high of five goals in a single game.
  • The six-goal game from Riley Campbell was the first of her career in a Crimson uniform. The senior captain has hat-tricks in at least every game this season and is averaging 4.33 GPG.
  • Campbell also set another career high in points in a single game with nine.
  • Callie Hem also has at least a hat-trick in every game this season after a four goal game this afternoon.
  • The win over the Panthers was the third time this season the Crimson has scored at least 20 goals.
  • In wins, the Crimson is outscoring its opponent by 81-39
