ITHACA, N.Y. – Men's ice hockey dropped a 4-1 decision to Cornell on Saturday night. Down 2-0 heading into the second period, captain
Ian Moore scored the lone goal in the third.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Crimson defense was put to the test in the opening minutes, going on a five-minute penalty kill after a major was called on
Marek Hejduk. After successfully killing off the penalty, Harvard continued to fend off Cornell until the Big Red were able to score a power play goal towards the end of the period.
Heading into the second period, the Crimson dominated offensively for the opening six minutes and generated some high-quality chances but were unable to capitalize. The Big Red scored at the end of the period once again, upping the deficit to 2-0.
At the halfway point of the third, Mullahy skated off the ice in exchange for an extra attacker. Shortly after a faceoff,
Ryan Healey controlled the puck near the right dot before sending a centering pass to
Ian Moore, who scored from high up.
Within the final two minutes the Crimson were unable to capitalize on the rest of their shots, and Cornell scored two empty net goals to end the game with a final score of 4-1.
