PRINCETON, N.J. – No. 19 Harvard Women's Water Polo swept a pair of CWPA games on Saturday at DeNunzio Pool. The Crimson downed Saint Francis, 16-5, before defeating Bucknell, 15-6. With the two victories, Harvard improved to 9-5 overall and 3-1 in conference.
How it Happened
- In its first game of the day, the Crimson jumped out to a 5-1 lead after one quarter and never looked back. Harvard increased its lead to 11-3 at intermission before cruising to the 11-goal victory.
- Ella Prentice led the Crimson with three goals, with Ruby Hodge leading all Harvard players with four assists. Alexis Kieckhafer, meanwhile, led the defensive effort with eight stops.
- Harvard returned to the pool deck a few hours later to face Bucknell and enjoyed an 8-2 lead at halftime. The Crimson's defensive effort was on full display, allowing just three goals over the first 24 minutes of action. Harvard eventually dismissed the Bison by a nine-goal margin.
- The Crimson had 10 different goal scorers against Bucknell, with Emma Gilbert and Erin Kim scoring a team-leading two goals apiece. Heidi Heffelfinger directed the offensive attack, recording four assists. Kieckhafer made four saves between the pipes.
