CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's lacrosse picked up a decisive victory on Tuesday night after an 18-4 win over Merrimack at Jordan Field. Picking up its second win in four days, the Crimson improved to 7-2 on the year with a return to conference play on tap for the weekend.
The Crimson came out firing in the first quarter after netting six goals in the opening minutes and never looked back. In another dominant victory, 13 different Crimson found the back of the net in the decisive win over the Warriors.
In another four-point outing,
Callie Hem notched her 150
th career point. One of only 11 players in program history to hit the 150-point milestone, Hem sits at No. 11 all-time in career points.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS
- Caroline Mullahy opened the scoring after making a great move to the net for the first goal of the game. Mullahy finished the quarter with a goal and an assist.
- Charlotte Hodgson scored the second goal of the game on a free-position shot.
- Coming off her Ivy weekly honors, Riley Campbell scored her first of the game after working her way to the slot and beating the Warriors netminder with a great shot. Campbell went on to net two more goals to complete the hat-trick.
- Caroline Mullahy found Callie Hem on a beautiful pass for her first of the game. Hem finished the game with three more goals for a total of four on the day.
- Callie Batchelder had a career day against the Warriors after tallying her first four-point game.
- Kate Izzo and Abbie Izzo both scored their first goals of the year in the win.
- Harvard scored eight unanswered goals through the opening two quarters.
- The Crimson added 16 of the first 18 goals of the game.
GAME NOTES
- Callie Hem and Riley Campbell both added hat-tricks. The senior duo has hat-tricks in eight of nine games this season.
- The Crimson held the Warriors off the board in two-quarters tonight making it the fifth time this season it has not allowed a goal in a quarter of play.
- The great defensive showing marks the second time this season the Crimson has shut an opponent in two different quarters.
- Harvard has a +80 goal differential in wins this season after scoring 134 goals while only allowing 54 goals.
- This marks the third time this season the Crimson has allowed five or fewer goals.
