HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crimson and the Wildcats met for just the second time in program history this afternoon in Evanston with both teams looking for a key out of conference victory.
- Harvard got to work right away, getting a goal in the fourth minute from Josefine Hasbo. The senior captain scored her third goal in the past two games after a pass from Lauren Muniz.
- The game settled down after the early goal as both teams did not allow another shot until the 25' mark in the contest. Audrey Francois tacked on another shot on goal for the Crimson in the first half but had her attempt deflected by the Northwestern keeper.
- 36' into the matchup, Northwestern drew a foul call in the 18 to earn a penalty kick. After a VAR review confirmed the call on the field, Northwestern made its attempt from the stripe. The Wildcat shooter sailed her shot wide in a critical moment that allowed Harvard to keep its 1-0 lead late in the first half.
- The Crimson advantage remained at 1-0 up until the halftime break. After 45', Harvard led in shots, 5-0 and in shots on goal, 2-0.
- Northwestern made its move early in the second frame, firing off four shots, two of which were on goal - in the first ten minutes of the half. Rhiannon Stewart continued to play well in net, making one save while getting a hand with the second save from Hasbo, who cleared a bouncing shot off the backline.
- After Stewart's third save at the 65' mark, Harvard battled back to record back-to-back scoring chances from Anna Rayhill and Francois.
- In the next ten minutes, Stewart cleaned up three more Northwestern shots to keep the sheet clean heading into the final 15 minutes.
- The Wildcats finally got the equalizer at the 78' mark after a deflected ball went over the head of Stewart, who had come out of the net to press the ball. The Wildcats lucky strike leveled the score at 1-1 with just over 11 minutes to play.
- Northwestern kept the pressure on as time winded down, forcing Stewart to make three more saves to keep the draw intact.
- After 90 minutes, the Crimson and the Wildcats came out of the contest with a 1-1 draw. Harvard kept its unbeaten record alive, moving to 4-0-3 on the season heading into its final nonconference matchup next week.
