Wrestling Ties Against American, Loses By Criteria

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Harvard wrestling falls to American in the first dual meet of the season, 19-20. Harvard was tied with American, but lost by criteria in the eventual tiebreaker. Harvard won five matches in total, including wins from Diego Sotelo, Dante Frinzi, Jimmy Harrington, Jaden Pepe, and Matt Walsh.

133 - Lopez (American) defeats Logan Brzozowski, 16-11.
141 - Frinzi (141) defeats White (American), DEC 5-3.
149 - Jaden Pepe defeats Owen (American), DEC 6-4
157 - Jimmy Harrington defeats Nies (American), 11-2 MD.
165 - Caden Millheim defeats Cael Berg (165), DEC 8-5.

HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS

  • No. 19 Diego Sotelo (125) opened up the dual season with a win over Bainey (American). The co-captain won by fall to give the Crimson a 6-0 lead to start the match. This is Sotelo's eighth win of the season.
  • Dante Frinzi (141) defeated White (American), DEC 5-3, earning the go-ahead take down in the final period of play. 
  • Jaden Pepe (149) defeated Owen, (American), 6-4, with a take down in the final seconds of play. 
  • Jimmy Harrington (157) defeated Nies (American) by major decision, 11-2. A four point play in the third period ended the match and earned four team points for the Crimson. This is Jimmy's tenth win of the season.
  • Matt Walsh earned his fourth victory of the season against White (American), winning 8-2 by decision.
