Elsa Santos López Lands on Top Drawer Soccer Top 100 Freshman List

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After a solid start to her first collegiate season, Harvard women's soccer first-year, Elsa Santos López was honored by Top Drawer Soccer, landing on the publication's Top 100 Freshman List. The Spaniard came in at the No. 44 spot on the rankings and was the highest ranked Ivy League player. A creative attacking midfielder, Santos López has impressed this season by recording two goals and four assists to lead the team with six goal contributions.

After joining the Crimson this Summer from Valdemoro, Spain, Santos López made an immediate impact on her team. In just her second collegiate start, she scored her first career goal for the Crimson in the battle against Fairfield (Aug. 29). The midfielder went on to record her first career assist against Monmouth (Sep. 4) on a free kick set piece before posting assists in back-to-back victories against Boston University (Sep. 11) and New Hampshire (Sep. 14). In Ivy League action, the former Youth Spanish National Team player has registered an assist against Princeton (Sep. 27) and scored a goal in the team's most recent win over Yale (Oct. 12).

A top rookie in the Ivy League, Santos López is the only rookie in the Ancient Eight to have six goals contributions at this point in the season and is just one of six players in the league to have reached the total.

Santos López and her teammates are now dialed in on preparing for the team's final three regular season games against Brown (Oct. 18), Penn (Oct. 25) and Columbia (Nov. 1). The Crimson recently took over the top spot in the Ivy League women's soccer table after a 2-0 win over Yale a week ago.
