NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Harvard women's volleyball (3-12, 2-5 Ivy) concluded its back-to-back weekend with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-10) loss to Yale (9-6, 5-2 Ivy) this evening at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
How it Happened
Early kills had the Crimson trailing by one at 5-4, but then Yale exploded, scoring 10 of the next 14 points leading up to the media timeout to lead 15-8. Harvard kept battling, going on a 5-1 run out of the break to pull within three. The Crimson continued to pressure, pulling within one late at 19-18. Yale, however, regained control and closed out the first set, 25-21.
The second set was a similar story for the Crimson. After leading 3-1 early, Yale took over control and led 15-10 at the media break. The Bulldogs kept the momentum out of the timeout, leading by as many as seven. Harvard fought off four set points but ultimately fell again, 25-21.
The Bulldogs controlled the entirety of the final set, winning 25-10 and completing the match victory.
Harvard Highlights
- Ryleigh Patterson led the offensive effort with a team-high eight kills while hitting at a .286 clip.
- Ali Farquhar followed closely behind, adding seven kills.
- Nicole Cornell recorded double-digit assists and digs with 17 and 10, respectively.
- In total the Crimson recorded 33 kills and four blocks in the three-set contest.
