HOW IT HAPPENED:
In a contest that featured two that sides that both rank in the top-five nationally in goals against average, Harvard (15-0, 6-0 Ivy League) and UMass (14-3, 7-1 Mid-American) showcased their defensive excellence in the opening phases of the match. Neither side logged a shot in the initial five minutes in Amherst.
The Crimson controlled the majority of possession in the first period, as Harvard earned the first penalty corner thanks to a great dribble on the right side from senior forward
Kate Oliver. Harvard turned to sophomore midfielder
Tilly Butterworth on the penalty corner, as her shot was stopped to keep the score at 0-0 heading into the second quarter. Butterworth's attempt was the only shot between Harvard and UMass in the first quarter.
The impressive defensive form from both teams continued in the second quarter, as a shot didn't arrive in the frame until the 5:33 mark. The hosts generated their first penalty corner, as the Crimson successfully defended the chance to perverse the double zeros on the scoreboard.
At the end of the first half, both teams recorded one shot each, as Burger posted a single save across the opening 30 minutes.

Fiene Oerlemans found open space on the left side of the circle, as she saw her shot and a follow up from first-year forward
Lucy Barker get stopped by UMass' senior keeper Myrte van Herwijnen.
Burger orchestrated a sensational effort to keep the match all tied up on a UMass penalty corner. After the initial insert, the Minutewomen fired a pass to the left side of the cage, as Burger scrambled over to deflected the ball away with a stellar split save.
With just under six minutes left in the fourth quarter, Harvard finally broke through to take the lead. Following a free hit and a back-and-forth passing sequence, senior midfielder and team captain
Kitty Chapple spotted le Huray drifting away from a UMass defender, as le Huray deflected the ball into the cage to put Harvard ahead for good.
