Craig Sets Harvard Career Passing TD Record; No. 15/12 Football Defeats Dartmouth, 31-10

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 15/12 Harvard Football scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to ultimately defeat Dartmouth, 31-10, Saturday afternoon on Tim Murphy Field at Harvard Stadium. With the win, the Crimson became the first team to reach 300 Ivy League football victories and improved to 7-0 for the first time since 2015. Harvard also strengthened its hold on first place in the league standings, moving to 4-0 on the season. The Big Green, meanwhile, fell to 5-2 (2-2 Ivy).

On the way to staying perfect on the year, quarterback Jaden Craig set the school record for career passing touchdowns. Needing three TDs to break Neil Rose's record of 41, the senior etched his name atop the chart with his 14-yard pass to Logan Reaska in the fourth quarter (12:47). Craig added another TD for good measure when he found Seamus Gilmartin for the 34-yard score with 11:17 left in the game. The signal caller ended with 322 yards passing and four TDs.

How It Happened

  • Craig methodically took the Crimson down the field and on the 13th play of the drive, fired a dart over the middle to Gilmartin, who caught the pass and fell over the goal line for the score. The 71-yard drive burned 5:36 of game clock and helped Harvard take a 7-0 lead.
  • The Crimson doubled its lead with 1:32 left in the first quarter when Craig dropped in a pass to Brady Blackburn, who made an incredible effort to make the grab. Once the ball was secure, the sophomore was off to the races to complete the 74-yard TD play. Craig's school-record-tying 41st career passing TD helped push the Crimson lead to 14-0.
  • Harvard increased its lead to 17-0 when Kieran Corr made a career-long 38-yard field goal with 8:33 left in the second quarter. The field goal capped a 12-play, 75-yard drive that ate up 6:27.
  • The Crimson halted a Dartmouth drive deep in its own territory, forcing a 37-yard Owen Zalc field-goal attempt, which he ended up missing with four seconds left. That miss kept Harvard ahead, 17-0, at halftime.
  • The Big Green traded its zero for a seven when it opened the second half with a 12-play, 75-yard drive that culminated with a Grayson Saunier 1-yard touchdown rush. The TD cut the Crimson's lead to 17-7, with 9:32 remaining in the third.
  • On the ensuing possession, Craig had a pass tipped that was ultimately intercepted by Dartmouth. The Big Green took advantage of the turnover and added another three points to its ledger thanks to a Zalc 46-yard field goal. With the boot, Harvard saw its lead decrease to 17-10 (3rd/3:54).
  • Craig set the school record for career passing touchdowns when he found an open Reaska for the 14-yard TD. The strike with 12:47 left in the fourth quarter gave Harvard a 24-10 lead.
  • The Harvard defense forced a turnover on downs after the Craig-to-Reaska connection, which put Craig back on the field. The senior wasted no time, completing another pass to Gilmartin, with this attempt ending in a 34-yard touchdown. The Crimson defense took it from there and maintained its 31-10 margin through the end of the contest.
