No. 3 Field Hockey’s Historic 2025 Season Ends in NCAA Tournament Semifinals

DURHAM, N.C. – No. 4 Harvard field hockey's battled to the end at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium, as the Crimson's historic and remarkable 2025 campaign ends in the NCAA Tournament Semifinals with a 2-0 defeat against No. 3 Princeton.

The Crimson end the 2025 season with a 19-2 record, marking the most wins for Harvard in a single season in school history. Junior Sage Piekarski ends the season as the Crimson's leader in both goals (16) and points (36).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The intensity was there from the start between Harvard (19-2, 7-0 Ivy League) and Princeton (18-3, 6-1 Ivy League), as both teams combined for seven penalty corners in the first 10 minutes of the match. Harvard earned the initial corner of the day, as senior defender Bronte-May Brough saw her shot drift just wide of the cage.

Defensively on penalty corners, Harvard was excellent in the first quarter. Princeton earned six straight penalty corners, as the Crimson turned each one away. At the end of the first period of action, the scoreboard sat at 0-0 heading into the second quarter.

The exceptional defensive play continued for both teams in the second quarter. Each side registered just a single shot, as the 0-0 scoreline carried into the halftime break.

Harvard started the second half on the front foot, owning possession and pinning the Tigers back in their defensive end. The Crimson generated two shots and two penalty corners in the frame. Two minutes into the second half, Harvard almost jumped into the lead, as junior midfielder Lara Beekhuis saw her shot fly wide of the right post.

With under five minutes left in the regulation, Princeton scored the game-winning on a strike from Anna Faulstich, as the Tigers added to their lead with an empty net goal with just seconds left on the clock.

Harvard took five shots compared to Princeton's three, as the Crimson generated six penalty corners in the NCAA Semifinals clash against the Tigers.
