How It Happened

  • Batties II scored the Crimson's first four points before Barbour netted the team's next five as Harvard remained within 10-9 of BC at the 16:38 mark of the first half.
  • After BC moved ahead 18-9, back-to-back buckets from Piggé, a jumper from sophomore guard Austin Hunt, and a 3-pointer from Batties II trimmed the margin to 20-18 with 9:39 left in the opening half.
  • Following 11 straight points from the Eagles, the Crimson countered with an 8-0 run behind 3-pointers from Batties II and Barbour to stay within 34-28 with 2:56 to go until halftime before BC brought a 38-30 edge into the locker room.
  • The Crimson outscored the Eagles 14-8 to open the second half, whittling the difference to two points at 46-44 with 15:39 remaining. A 3-point play from Barbour, 3-pointer from Batties II, and steal-and-score from Hinton helped fuel the stretch.
  • BC then used a 22-4 run to move ahead 68-48 with 6:56 to play.
  • A jumper from Piggé before four straight points from Hinton – including a dunk off a steal – stopped the run and brought the margin to 68-54 with 4:52 left.
  • Inside of the final minute, a layup from first-year guard Frankie Mannino and jumper from junior guard Xavier Nesbitt helped the Crimson score six of the game's final eight points.

Postgame Quotes

  • "I thought we really fought and competed hard. Their athleticism and length really affected us and bothered us in stretches. Obviously, we cut the lead to two, and then they were able to go on a big run – a 22-4 run that kind of doomed us there. Really pleased with the effort of our kids with certain players like Robert and Tey getting nine rebounds apiece in a game like this really is a positive sign for us going forward." – Tommy Amaker, The Thomas G. Stemberg '71 Family Endowed Coach for Harvard Men's Basketball
