VILLANOVA, Pa. – No. 19/15 Harvard Football made its NCAA FCS Playoff debut on Saturday and fell at 12
th-seeded and No. 6/9 Villanova, 52-7. The first-round loss ends the Crimson's season at 9-2, while the Wildcats move on in the 24-team tournament and improve to 10-2.
How It Happened
- The Wildcats scored 14 first-quarter points, with the first seven coming on a 45-yard touchdown run by Isaiah Ragland. The last seven, meanwhile, came when Pat McQuaide scrambled out of the pocket on 4th-and-10 and found Lucas Kopecky for a 30-yard TD pass.
- Villanova added 17 points in the second quarter, with Jack Barnum connecting on a 29-yard field with 13:23 left in the second period. The Wildcats then tacked on a 10-yard McQuaide TD rush and a Ja'briel Maco 5-yard run to take a 31-0 lead at halftime.
- The Crimson opened the second half with possession of the ball and took advantage of the opportunity, marching 68 yards in 10 plays, with Jaden Craig finding Jordan Harris in the back of the endzone. The 6-yard TD pass capped a 4-minute, 30-second drive to make it a 31-7 Villanova lead.
- The Wildcats had an answer for the Crimson touchdown, scoring on a 29-yard TD reception by Luke Colella. The 4-play, 75-yard drive that covered 2:02 put Villanova up, 38-7. The Wildcats later scored twice more to provide the final margin.
Team Notes
- Harvard finished with nine wins on the season, its most since winning nine times in 2015. The Crimson also won six Ivy League games that season, the same total Harvard reached this year.
- The Crimson won its third straight Ivy League championship this season and the 20th in program history.
- Harvard has won 17 games in Andrew Aurich's two seasons at the helm. The win total is the most by a Crimson head coach in his first two seasons since Robert T. Fisher '12 (1919, 1920).

- DJ Gordon (10 rushes, 59 yards; 2 receptions, 21 yards): Led the team with 59 rushing yards on 10 attempts.
- Sean Line (12 tackles): Finished the game with 12 tackles… He finishes the season with three straight 10-plus-tackle outings (10 vs. Penn, 15 at Yale).
- Ty Bartrum (11 tackles): Reached the double-digit tackle plateau for the fourth time this season… Had 14 tackles in each of his last two games prior to today.
