Women’s Ice Hockey Set for Home-and-Home Series Against Dartmouth

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After a pair of battles in the North Country last weekend, Harvard women's ice hockey is set to continue its ECAC schedule with a pair of matchups against Dartmouth. The Crimson (3-3-0, 1-3-0 ECAC) will renew its rivalry with the Big Green (2-4-0, 2-2-0 ECAC) in a home-and-home series as it looks to improve its standing in the conference early in the season. The sides will first battle on the ice at Thompson Arena at 3:00 PM on Friday before coming back to the Bright-Landry Hockey Center for a 3:00 PM tilt on Saturday.

A Familiar Foe

The most played opponent in Harvard women's hockey history, the matchups against the Big Green will be the 106th and 107th meeting between the two sides in series history. Harvard holds a 55-46-4 record against Dartmouth and a 6-3-1 mark in the last 10 meetings dating back to 2019-20.

Scouting Dartmouth

Dartmouth, coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to RV St. Lawrence and a 3-0 win over No. 9 Clarkson, is currently receiving votes in the USA Hockey Poll. This is the first time Dartmouth has been in the polls since 2015, when it was ranked tenth. Overall, Dartmouth owns a 2-4-0 record and a 2-2-0 mark in conference play. Both the team's victories have come against teams ranked inside the top 10 in the USCHO poll, the first being a 4-2 win over No. 9 Colgate (Oct. 24) and the second being a 3-0 shutout against No. 9 Clarkson (Nov. 1). The Big Green opened the season against Holy Cross where it suffered two losses.

Individually, Dartmouth is led by senior Cally Dixon who has posted three goals and three assists for six points in six games. The Big Green's biggest strength is its goaltending platoon of Michaela Hesová and Jiahui Zhan, who have combined to post a 2.31 GAA and a .931 save percentage. Each goalie owns a win on the year.

Player History vs. Dartmouth

Five members of the 2025-26 Crimson roster own points in their careers against Dartmouth including Ella Lucia, who leads the group with two points. Lucia notched both a goal and an assist in two games last season to lead the squad. Brooke Manning also owns a goal against Dartmouth while Zoe Boosamra, Antonina Dinges and Keira Ley have posted assists.

Between the pipes, both Ainsley Tuffy and Emily Davidson have seen action against the ECAC and Ivy League foe. Davidson has played two games against Dartmouth and owns a 2.48 GAA and a .912 save percentage with a 0-1-1 record. Tuffy made 43 stops in her one career start against the foe, allowing only one goal in a draw last season.

Across the Ice

The Landry Family Head Coach for Harvard women's ice hockey, Laura Bellamy, will coach against her mentor and Dartmouth head coach, Maura Crowell, this weekend. Bellamy began her coaching career as an assistant coach at Harvard in the 2012-13 season under Maura Crowell. A Minnesota native, Bellamy made a move in 2015 to join Crowell's staff at the University of Minnesota Duluth where she served as an assistant and associate head coach under Crowell until she assumed the head role at Harvard in 2023.

Hammer Time

A sophomore forward, Emily Hamann is beginning to find her stride for the Crimson. The Massachusetts native has potted three goals on the season and currently ranks inside the top 10 in the ECAC with .5 goals per game. Hamann's tallies have come against Saint Michael's (Oct. 17), Cornell (Oct. 24) and most recently against St. Lawrence (Nov. 1). The strike against the Saints served as the Crimson's game-winning goal, the first game-winner in Hamann's career.

Locking Down the Net

Through six contests, Harvard has allowed only 2.17 goals per game to its opponents, the sixth-lowest in the nation and 16th-lowest nationally. The Crimson has allowed two or fewer goals in four games this season including two shutouts against Saint Michael's (Oct. 17) and St. Lawrence (Nov. 1). The combination of a relentless defense – that has blocked 65 shots on the season – and a steady goaltending effort has helped Harvard shut down opponents regularly this season.

Blocking Shots

A staple of Harvard's defensive success in the Bellamy era has been getting into shooting lanes and blocking shots. The team set a program record with 536 blocked shots a year ago and has continued to make an effort in that area this year, posting 65 in six games.

Sophomore forward Scout Oudemool has led the charge in blocking shots for the Crimson, posting 11 through six games. Her total is third-most in the ECAC among forwards and trails skaters from RPI and Union who – at this point in the season – have played six more games than Harvard.

Whynot Izzy?

Harvard women's ice hockey received its second ECAC weekly award this morning after Izzy Whynot was named the ECAC Rookie of the Week. The Ontario native earned the honor after shutting out the St. Lawrence Saints on Saturday afternoon to earn her first collegiate shutout and win. The heroic effort helped Harvard defeat the Saints, 1-0, and improve its record to 3-3-0 on the season.

It was just the second career start for Whynot, who joined the Crimson this summer out of the Sir William Mulock School and the Central York Panthers hockey program. The rookie made 34 saves between the pipes to stop the SLU offensive attack, including three big stops while the Saints were on the power play.

This was the second weekly award given to the Crimson this season after Keira Ley won the Defensive Player of the Week award after a three-point weekend in the Crimson's opening series against Saint Michael's and New Hampshire.

Lucia Leading the Way

Sophomore center Ella Lucia is continuing to produce for Harvard in her second year with the team. The Michigan native currently leads the Crimson with four assists and .67 assists per game which is also good for top 15 in the ECAC. Lucia posted an assist in each of Harvard's past two games and will carry a two-game point streak into this weekend's series against Dartmouth.

Youth Movement

One of the youngest rosters in all of college hockey, Harvard boasts a lineup that features 13 first-years and sophomores. The group has accounted for 17 of the Crimson's 27 points on the season which is the second-highest percentage in the ECAC. Harvard's underclass points percentage sits at 63 percent through six games which is second to St. Lawrence's percentage of 69.

Up Next

Harvard will continue ECAC play next weekend with another road trip to Yale (Nov. 14) and Brown (Nov. 15). The matchup against the Bulldogs is set for 6:30 PM on Friday and will air live on SNY and ESPN+. Harvard's clash with the Bears is slated for 3:00 PM on Saturday afternoon with the action streaming live on ESPN+.
