CANTON, N.Y. – A three-goal second period lifted the Crimson to a 6-2 win at Appleton Arena on Friday night. Five different Crimson scored in the win as the Crimson picks up three key points and wins the season series with the Skating Saints.
HOW IT HAPPENED
St. Lawrence jumped out to an early lead after a power-play goal with 10:00 left in the first period. Starting with a pass across the crease from the far corner, Charette tried to slide all the way across, but the Saints had a tap-in on the back door.
Four minutes later,
Casey Severo added another goal on what is already a career year after
Joe Miller forced a turnover behind the net. Getting two cracks at it in front of the net, Severo put in his own rebound for his 11th goal of the season to tie the game at one.
The Saints would add another goal late in the period to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
The Crimson added the next two goals after scoring twice in just over a minute. Beginning with a cross-ice pass from
Matthew Morden,
Justin Solovey dropped a pass for
Ben MacDonald, who made a strong move into the slot and picked the corner for his fifth goal of the season.
A minute later,
Cam Johnson netted his fifth goal of the season off the rush to give the Crimson the lead. Assisted by
Philip Tresca and
Zakary Karpa, Johnson went bar down on the Saints' netminder to give the Crimson a one-goal lead.
With three minutes left in the second,
Ryan Healey found the back of the net for the third Crimson goal of the period. Trying to find
Casey Severo on the far post, Healey banked it off a St. Lawrence defender.
Casey Severo tacked on another goal on the power-play to give Harvard a 5-2 lead before
Mick Thompson found the empty net to seal the victory.
