CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Grace Mullahy scored four goals, and
Caroline Mullahy dished out five assists as Harvard cruised to a victory over UAlbany by a score of 18-6 in its season opener on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson controlled the game from start to finish, outshooting the Great Danes 33-13 and winning 14 draw controls.
Caroline Mullahy added her 100
th career assist on the first goal of the game after finding her sister,
Grace Mullahy, on the side of the net. The Crimson has now won the last two home openers by a combined score of 39-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Harvard wasted no time finding the back of the net after
Grace Mullahy opened the scoring off a feed from her sister, Caroline. Less than a minute later, Caroline found the back of the net herself, with an assist by
Charley Meier, to make it 2-0.
Charlotte Hodgson extended the lead to 3-0 on a free-position shot before UAlbany responded with its first goal of the game. That was the only tally the Great Danes would manage in the first half, as the Crimson added 11 unanswered goals before halftime.
The Crimson dominated the second quarter, scoring seven times, including player-up goals from
Stella Shea and
Charley Meier. By halftime, Harvard led 14-1, with
Caroline Mullahy assisting on four of those goals.
UAlbany attempted to claw back in the third quarter, scoring three times, but Harvard responded with two of its own, including
Annabel Child's second goal of the day. The fourth quarter saw each team add two more goals, with
Callie Batchelder sealing the win with her third goal of the game in the final minutes.
Annabel Child scored the goal of the day after converting with a behind-the-back no-look goal.
