CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Women's water polo defeated both Saint Francis and
Bucknell on Saturday after two decisive performances to open the CWPA conference weekend.
Picking up a 17-9 win over SFU in the early game, the Crimson responded with another big win after holding Bucknell to just four goals in an 18-4 win in the afternoon.
The Crimson improves to 3-0 in conference play and has now won seven straight games and improves to 9-1 on the season.
Game 1: Harvard 17, SFU 9
- Lucy Berkman scored a pair of goals.
- Heidi Heffelfinger finished the game with five points after two goals and three assists.
- Erin Kim recorded four points after a goal and three helpers.
- Emma Gilbert added four goals and an assist.
- 11 different Crimson found the back of the net.
- Orli Cooper and Sutchie Ofori-Nyako both played in the morning with Cooper making nine saves in the first, third, and fourth quarters. Ofori-Nyako made three saves in the second quarter.
Game 2: Harvard 18, Bucknell 4
- Heffelfinger continued her strong day with another four goals and an assist.
- Maya O'Dea netted a hat-trick while also picking up an assist.
- Emma Gilbert and Nikki Piovan both scored twice.
- Harvard led 5-0 after the first quarter and 12-1 at the half after a seven-goal explosion in the second quarter.
- Both goalies split time in the afternoon with Cooper making seven saves and Ofori-Nyako making three.
