HANOVER, N.H. –
Michael Callow and
Mick Thompson scored in the third period as the Crimson comeback effort came up just short on Friday night. Trying to erase a three goal deficit, Thompson scored to cut the lead to one with 1:15 left in regulation.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Aku Koskenvuo was solid in the first period after making eight saves and surviving a flurry of Big Green chances on the power-play as
Mason Langenbrunner was called for interference in the lone penalty of the period. The game remained scoreless heading into the second period.
Dartmouth added three goals in the second period including two just over four minutes apart to take a 3-0 lead heading into the third period.
Harvard started the period on the power-play for the first time in the game. Despite some good looks from the top unit, Harvard was unable to find the back of the net.
Michael Callow cut the Big Green lead to two with 13:50 left in the period after
Ryan Healey threw a puck on net that bounced off the backwall and right onto Callow's stick for his third goal of the season.
Sean Keohane picked up his first collegiate point with a secondary assist on the third period goal.
The Crimson staged a late push in the third after outshooting Dartmouth 10-4 in the final period. With the net empty,
Mick Thompson scored off a beautiful feed from
Joe Miller to cut the lead to one with just over a minute to play. Pulling Koskenvuo for a second time, Harvard was unable to complete the comeback effort and force overtime.
