PROVIDENCE, R.I. –
Ryan Healey,
Kyle Aucoin and
Philip Tresca all scored for the Crimson in a shootout loss to Brown on Saturday night in the final game of the regular season.
Harvard finishes the season as the No. 7 seed and will host RPI in the first round of the playoffs on Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Crimson jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after
Ryan Healey,
Kyle Aucoin, and
Philip Tresca all scored in the early goings of game 29.
Healey netted his fourth goal of the season off a great outlet pass from
Zakary Karpa. Healey beat Zacher from the far dot to give the junior goals in back-to-back games.
Kyle Aucoin scored next for the Crimson after throwing a puck on net that Zacher deflected into his own net. The second goal this season and of his career for the senior had the Crimson up 2-0 and ended the night for Zacher after he was replaced.
Ben MacDonald forced a turnover on the forecheck and threw it out in front where
Philip Tresca was able to chip it up and over the Bears netminder for a 3-0 lead. Tresca picked up his second goal in his last three games with the first period tally.
Brown scored at the end of the period to make it 3-1 heading into the second.
The score remained the same through the second and most of the third until the Bears scored two power-play goals late to force overtime.
After a scoreless overtime period, the Bears pulled out the extra point in the shootout.
