CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 8 Women's water polo picked up another two wins over California Baptist and Mercyhurst after outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 36-11 in two games.
Emma Gilbert and
Heidi Heffelfinger both picked up hat-tricks in the first game of the day while
Maya O'Dea led the offense with four goals and an assist. The Crimson pick up its eighth ranked victory of the season and hold a team to less than 10 goals for the ninth time in 12 games.
In game two, the Crimson netted 20 goals for the second time this season in the 20-2 win over Mercyhurst. In another conference win, Harvard increases its win streak to 10 games.
GAME 1: HARVARD 16, CBU 9
- The Crimson jumped out to an early lead after scoring on its first two possessions with Emma Gilbert and Maya O'Dea getting the morning started.
- Erin Kim made it 3-0 halfway through the first quarter after picking the far corner on a quick shot after a great cross pool pass from Maya O'Dea.
- The Lancers pulled within one before Ruby Hodge was left open in the slot for her first of the game to double the Harvard lead.
- Maya O'Dea completed her hat-trick in the second quarter.
- Erin Kim gave the Crimson a 9-4 lead in the third quarter to give Harvard its biggest lead of the night.
- Emma Gilbert added back-to-back goals in the fourth quarter to seal the win for Harvard.
- Erin Kim finished with a goal and three assists.
- Ella Schneider had two helpers.
- Niki Piovan scored once and added three helpers.
- Orli Cooper made 10 saves in the 11th win of the season.
GAME 2: HARVARD 20, MERCYHURST 2
- Heffelfinger added another two goals.
- Emma Gilbert and Lily Britt combined for nine goals and five assists.
- Sofia Del Vilar added three helpers.
- The Crimson led 11-1 at the half.
- Orli Cooper made eight saves in another big win.
