HANOVER, N.H. – No. 22 Harvard stormed back from an early deficit to defeat Dartmouth 14-8 on Sunday afternoon, securing its first Ivy League win of the season.
Charlotte Hodgson led the way with five goals, while
Caroline Mullahy dished out six assists in the comeback victory.
The Crimson trailed 4-2 after the first quarter but dominated the second half, outscoring Dartmouth 9-1 over the final two quarters. Harvard outshot the Big Green 33-15 and forced 26 turnovers to improve to 5-2 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dartmouth jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Charlotte Hodgson put Harvard on the board in the first quarter.
- Charley Meier added another goal less than a minute later off an assist from Tori Balser to cut the deficit to 3-2.
- The Big Green extended their lead to 6-2 midway through the second quarter before Harvard responded. Balser, Meier, and Hodgson each scored, with Hodgson's second goal just before halftime making it 7-5.
- Harvard carried its momentum into the third quarter as Hodgson scored again with just under 13 miniutes to bring the Crimson within one.
- Goals from Hannah Shiels, Grace Mullahy, and Annabel Child helped Harvard take its first lead of the game at 9-8.
- The Crimson dominated the fourth quarter, shutting out Dartmouth while scoring four more times, including a free-position goal from Hodgson and a late tally from Callie Batchelder.
- Caroline Mullahy capped off the scoring with her second goal in the final seconds.
