SAN DIEGO, CALIF ­­– Women's water polo kicked off the second day of the Aztec Invitational with a hard-fought loss 9-7 loss to the University of Michigan and a triple overtime loss to Indiana. 
 
GAME 1: HARVARD 7, MICHIGAN 9

The Crimson trailed 8-3 at the end of the third quarter but made a strong comeback in the fourth quarter, scoring four goals to narrow the gap. Despite the late push, Harvard fell short.

• Heidi Heffelfinger led the offense with a hat trick.
• Emma Gilbert recorded two goals and two assists to the board.
• Maya O'Dea recorded two assists.
• Niki Piovan contributed on both ends of the pool with one goal, three assists, and four steals.
• Dany Zapata also found the net with one goal
• Orli Cooper was key between the posts, recording 14 saves. 

 
GAME 2: HARVARD 16, INDIANA 17

Harvard kept the match close, trading off goals with Indiana. Despite staying neck and neck, their efforts were not enough as Indiana sealed the game in triple overtime. 

• Emma Gilbert led the offense with 7 goals.
• Niki Piovan contributed with 4 goals. 
• Seven different Crimson made the score sheet.
• Orli Cooper played a strong game, making 15 saves.
• Ruby Hodge led the Crimson with 5 assists.

The Crimson remains in California next week and will play three more games, starting with San Jose State on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
