CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 8 women's water polo is set to hit the road for the first time this season when it heads to Providence to play Brown and Marist on Saturday. The Crimson, who sit at 14-1 and 6-0 in CWPA play, has won 12 straight games heading into the weekend.
Harvard will play Brown at 10:00 a.m. and Marist at 3:00 p.m. in Providence.
The Crimson's 12-game win streak is tied with No. 1 Stanford for the longest win streak of any team in the top 10.
Ted Minnis also approaches a milestone, as the longtime head coach of the Crimson sits at 249 career wins.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Off to its best start since at least 2004, the Crimson is set to play Brown for the second time in a week.
- The Crimson defeated the Bears by a score of 9-7 in the tightest game of the Harvard Invitational.
- Tied at 7-7 heading into the fourth quarter, Orli Cooper made two stops in the final eight minutes of play to hold the Bears at seven, while O'Dea and Kim found the back of the net to lift Harvard to its 11th straight win.
- The Crimson stayed at No. 8 in the most recent ACWPC polls as it is set to take on two more ranked opponents: Brown (No. 25) and Marist (No. 21).
- Emma Gilbert and Orli Cooper took home weekly honors this week after standout performances at the Harvard Invitational.
- Cooper made 54 saves in four games, including 21 saves against Wagner in the weekend finale, while Gilbert tallied 16 goals in four games.
