PRINCETON, N.J. –
Kate Gilliam and
Tori Balser each scored twice, but Harvard fell to No. 12 Princeton by a score of 20-6 in its Ivy League opener on Saturday afternoon at Sherrerd Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Princeton jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Gilliam and Charlotte each found the back of the net for the Crimson.
Tori Balser then tied the game at 3-3 with a free-position goal at 6:25 of the first quarter. However, the Tigers answered with two more goals to take a 5-3 lead into the second.
Princeton extended their lead the second quarter, scoring three unanswered goals to lead 8-3 at halftime.
Tori Balser and
Callie Batchelder each scored for Harvard, but Princeton pulled away with a 14-5 lead heading into the fourth.
Princeton sealed the win with another six-goal quarter in the final frame, while Gilliam added Harvard's lone goal in the fourth.
