CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –
Caroline Mullahy recorded her 200th career point on Saturday in a 14-9 loss to the Yale Bulldogs at Jordan Field.
Becoming just the seventh player in program history to reach 200 career points, Mullahy is up to 19 goals and 43 assists this season through 13 games. Already having set a new career high in goals, the senior is just eight points away from tying her career best of 70 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Yale opened with two quick goals before
Callie Batchelder scored a beautiful behind-the-back goal off a feed from
Caroline Mullahy to make it 2-1 at the end of the first.
The Bulldogs dominated the second quarter, outscoring Harvard 8-3. After a tying goal from
Charley Meier early in the period, Yale went on a six-goal run.
Caroline Mullahy and
Nicole Giannakopoulos helped close the gap at the end of the half, but Yale took a 10-4 lead into the break.
Harvard came out strong in the third, scoring the first two goals of the half from
Callie Batchelder and
Grace Mullahy to make it a 10-6 game. Batchelder and Mullahy both added their 21st goals of the season to make it a four-goal game. However, the Bulldogs responded with a pair of goals of their own to regain the six-goal lead.
Two late goals—again from the Mullahy sisters—including a highlight-reel goal from Caroline after her second behind-the-back goal of the day, had the Crimson trailing by four with a quarter to go.
Yale opened the fourth with a quick goal, but
Grace Mullahy responded yet again with her third of the game to make it 13-9. The Bulldogs added a final goal in the closing minutes to seal the 14-9 win.
