CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Captains
Charley Meier and
Caroline Mullahy led the way for the Crimson in a dominant 20-4 win over UNH to close out the non-conference schedule. The duo combined for 13 points, with Meier netting a career-high five goals and Mullahy adding two goals and six assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Crimson opened the scoring on Tuesday night with two goals in the first five minutes.
Annabel Child started the night by converting on a player-up opportunity to give Harvard a 1-0 lead.
After
Caroline Mullahy received a card, Child disrupted the Wildcats' attack with a key caused turnover that helped Harvard kill off the penalty deep in UNH territory. On the ensuing possession, Mullahy found the back of the net off a quick feed from
Callie Batchelder, sparking the Crimson offense.
UNH responded with a goal, but Harvard rattled off seven straight to take a commanding 9-1 lead after the first quarter. The Crimson kept rolling in the second, adding five more goals to head into halftime up 14-2.
Harvard stayed sharp in the second half.
Charlotte Hodgson and
Tori Balser added goals in the third quarter, and first-year
Molly Chorin scored twice in the fourth, including her first collegiate goal. The defense limited New Hampshire to just three second-half shots and one goal.
