CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Women's water polo's second-quarter dominance helped lift the Crimson to an 18-4 win over Iona in the regular-season finale on Saturday afternoon.
Tying a modern program record with its 23rd win of the season, the Crimson now looks ahead to the CWPA playoffs next weekend in Providence.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS
- Harvard controlled a 2-0 lead for most of the first quarter after goals from Heidi Heffelfinger and Ruby Hodge had the Crimson off and running.
- Harvard would go on to score nine goals in the first and second quarters combined after a seven-goal outburst to close the first half.
- Continuing its dominance, the Crimson outscored Iona by a score of 7-2 in the second half.
- Heffelfinger finished the game with five goals.
- Ella Schneider had three helpers in the win.
- Ruby Hodge and Maya O'Dea picked up four points after they each netted a hat-trick and added an assist.
- Emma Gilbert added a pair of goals.
- Both goalies split time in the cage, with Sutchie Ofori-Nyako making five saves in the fourth quarter, while Orli Cooper started the game with five saves and also added three assists.
