CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Ivy League announced its 2025 preseason poll this afternoon with Harvard ranked number three heading into the upcoming season. After a fourth-place finish in the league standings a season ago, Harvard received one first place vote and a total of 96 points in the poll. Princeton was selected as number one with nine first-place votes while Brown came in second with six.
After off a 7-4-5 overall record, Harvard once again qualified for the Ivy League Tournament in 2024 after winning the inaugural tournament title in the 2023 season. The Crimson's stellar non-conference play highlighted its 2024 campaign with the team posting a 4-0-4 record including an impressive 2-2 draw against No. 10 Santa Clara.
Sophomore
Lauren Muniz, the team's returning leading scorer, tallied eight points last season on three goals and two assists. Despite missing time due to midseason injury, Muniz came up big for the Crimson with a goal and an assist in a key 3-1 victory over Yale in the end of the season.
Also returning is Ólöf Kristinsdóttir, the 2023 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, who missed the 2024 season due to injury. In her rookie year she was a key part of the Harvard offense being the team's second-leading goal scorer with eight goals and fourth in total points with 18. She also earned Second-Team All-Ivy League honors and tied for the 11
th most goals by a first-year in the nation.
The Crimson backline also returns experienced personnel including 2024 Second Team All-Ivy League selection
Rhiannon Stewart and starting defenders
August Hunter and
Erin Gordon. The backline duo of Hunter and Gordon played nearly every minute in the 2024 season to spearhead a stout Crimson defensive unit.
Harvard women's soccer opens the 2025 campaign on the road Sunday, August 24th at 1:00 PM against Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass.
