Ben Kelly added two assists as Harvard University men's soccer took down the University of California, 3-1, on Wednesday night at Jordan Field.
Earning its second straight win following a 2-0 road win at Providence College on Sept. 5, the Crimson (2-1-0) scored 15 seconds into the match, maintained a 1-0 lead at halftime, and extended the advantage to 3-0 with goals in the 76
th and 78
th minutes before the visiting Golden Bears (3-2-1) netted the contest's final tally in the 83
rd minute.
Savva registered his first career brace, Tellado posted a season-high three points for his third career game with three or more points, and Kelly registered his first collegiate game with two or more assists.

Harvard Highlights
- Junior Andreas Savva totaled a career-high five points on the night behind a career-best two goals – including the game-winning goal – and one assist. He has now tallied five career goals, three career assists, and 13 career points.
- Junior Dylan Tellado registered a season-high three points on one goal and one assist. For the year, he has now notched five points on two goals and an assist. Tellado recorded his third career game with three or more points. He has now posted 20 career points on nine career goals and two career assists.
- Junior Ben Kelly contributed a career-high two assists, marking his first career game with two or more assists. He has posted a team-best three assists on the year.
- Senior goalkeeper Lucian Wood made four saves in the win. For the year, he has posted a 0.67 GAA and 0.899 save percentage.
- Among the Crimson's field players, sophomores Tim Langenbahn and Nayan Das each played the full 90 minutes. Both student-athletes have played all 270 minutes on the year.
- For the match, Harvard led 6-5 in shots on goal, including a 5-3 edge in the second half.
How It Happened
- Harvard scored just 15 seconds into the match as the Crimson quickly worked the ball up the pitch following the opening kick-off before Tellado slid a pass to Savva on the right side allowing Savva to slot a shot into the back of the net.
- Wood made a quality save in the 15th minute as Harvard successfully defended against 12 shots from the Golden Bears in the first half, bringing a 1-0 lead into halftime.
- The Crimson nearly added to its goal total early in the second half as first-year Drew Lobley, junior Yuta Hata, and senior Bobby Cupps all sent shots on goal across the 51st and 52nd minutes.
- Senior Ethan Veghte then drove a shot off the woodwork in the 62nd as his one-timed volley from over 25 yards out went off the crossbar.
- Harvard almost broke through once again in the 73rd minute as a shot from Kelly carried just wide to the left following a service from sophomore Xavier Tanyi.
- The Crimson claimed a 2-0 lead in the 76th minute as Savva grabbed his brace. After Kelly played a ball into the penalty area from the left side, Savva controlled the ball and slid a shot into the right corner of the goal.
- Harvard moved ahead 3-0 just over two minutes later as Tellado pushed the Crimson further in front with a marker in the 78th minute. After Kelly made a centering pass, Savva flicked a header onto Tellado who knocked a shot into the net.
- Cal netted the game's final goal in the 83rd minute as Luka Lukic knocked in a shot from close range following a pass from Wisdom Onuoma.
