CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Harvard Men's Volleyball fell in straight sets to Manhattan University on Saturday, January 17, dropping the weekend finale after earning a four-set victory over the Jaspers the night before. Despite the strong showing on Friday, the Crimson were unable to complete the weekend
sweep, as Manhattan found its rhythm and secured the win.
Owen Woolbert led Harvard with nine kills, pacing the attack across all three sets.
Quinn Bishop and
Sawyer Nichols each added six kills, while
Brian Thomas was highly efficient, tallying five kills on a .833 hitting percentage.
Manhattan claimed the opening point of the first set and maintained early momentum. Harvard worked to stay within reach, trading points through the early stages, but the Jaspers began to pull away midway through the set. Woolbert led the Crimson offensively in the frame, though Manhattan ultimately closed out the set.
The second set saw a stronger start from Harvard, as the Crimson took an early lead behind kills from Woolbert and Bishop. The set turned into a back-and-forth battle, with neither team able to create separation late. After trading points at set point, Manhattan capitalized in the closing moments to edge out Harvard and take a 2–0 lead in the match.
In the third set,
Sawyer Nichols led the Crimson in kills as Harvard attempted to extend the match. However, Manhattan had found its groove offensively and defensively, controlling the tempo and closing out the set to secure the straight-sets victory.
