CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –
Sean Keohane's two-goal game helped propel the Crimson to a 3-1 win over RPI on Friday night. Scoring the first two goals of his collegiate career, the sophomore tied the game late in the second period and hit the empty net to seal the deal with a shot that went the length of the ice.
Harvard improves to 10-5-0 in ECAC play and will have the rest of the weekend off before the Beanpot on Monday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Although Harvard led 13-6 in shots after the first period, the Engineers had a 1-0 advantage after the opening 20.
Ben Charette made multiple big stops, including a couple of sequences of stops in tight, to keep Harvard in the game in the early stages. The only puck that got by Charette was off a deflection on the PK to give RPI the lead heading into the second.
The Crimson came out with much better pace in the second and were knocking on the door to tie the game early. All four lines had RPI pinned in its own end and just missed multiple chances to even the score. Late in the period,
Sean Keohane came crashing into the crease and got his own rebound for his first collegiate goal. Assisted by
Justin Solovey and
Aidan Lane, the third line would go on to have a great night for the Crimson.
Chase Stefanek started the third with another gritty goal to give Harvard its first lead of the night. Again assisted by
Justin Solovey and
Aidan Lane, Stefanek found a loose puck amid chaos in the crease for his second of the season.
Keohane would score his second of the night on a shot that hit the empty net from the Crimson end.
GAME NOTES
- With its eighth home win of the season, it is the second-most wins at Bright-Landry in a single season at this point in the year, trailing only the 2022-23 team that had nine.
- Justin Solovey added two helpers in his return to the lineup. The line combined for five points on the night.
- Sean Keohane became the first Crimson to score his first collegiate goal and add another in the same game since Matt Coronato in 2021-22.
