CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Three unanswered goals for No. 7 Harvard field hockey made the difference for the Crimson in its matchup against Cornell, as Harvard pushes its winning streak to seven matches with a 4-1 victory against the Big Red.
Senior midfielder and team captain
Lara Beekhuis opened the scoring just three minutes after pushback, as Cornell equalized moments later in the first quarter on a penalty stroke from first-year midfielder Rebecca Block. Harvard would then rattle off three-straight goals, as junior forward
Emily Bronckers, senior forward
Sage Piekarski and first-year forward
Evie Smith all netted goals to provide Harvard the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Harvard (9-1, 4-0 Ivy League) wasted no time in taking the initial lead. Only 2 minutes and 51 seconds gone by on the clock, Beekhuis received a pass into the circle, evaded a defender and slotted a chance to the right side of the post for the first goal of the afternoon, 1-0. A native of Laren, Netherlands, Beekhuis now has five goals and 11 points on the season.
Later in the first quarter, Cornell (5-5, 3-1) equalized on a penalty stroke, 1-1, as the scoreline would stand heading to the second frame. The Crimson outshot the visitors, 4-1, in the opening 15 minutes at Berylson Field.
Two goals in the second quarter would put Harvard ahead for good. Once again, Harvard excelled in a close-range scenario, as Bronckers would convert a chance right in front of goal for her first goal of the 2026 season, 2-1. Just 17 seconds later, the Crimson doubled the lead, as Piekarski glided past the Big Red defense and put the shot into the back of the cage, 3-1.
At the end of the first half, Harvard recorded seven shots compared to Cornell's two, as Harvard recorded one attacking penalty corner in the initial 30 minutes of the match.
From there, Harvard's defense of first-year

Smilla Klas, junior
Paige Cornelius and senior
Charlotte Casiraghi did not allow a shot in the second half. Just two and a half minutes into the second half, Smith scored the final of the goal of the day to secure the Crimson's 4-1 win.
The Crimson logged 12 shots at the end of the contest, as Cornell only took a pair of shots, marking the fourth time this season that Harvard has held an opponent to five shots or less.
