Harvard's top line scored the first three goals of the night with sophomore
Elle Sproule (Old Greenwich, Conn.) starting things off with the lone goal of the first period. Junior center
Ella Lucia (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) carried the puck from deep in her own zone and fed a pass to Sproule, who buried a shot from the left side.
Â
The second-period scoring began with a goal for Lucia, one-on-one against the Crusader goalie just three minutes into the period. After the midway point of the frame, first-year
Lindsay Stepnowski (South Glastonbury, Conn.) and senior
Zoe Boosamra (Montreal, Que.) netted back-to-back goals. Senior defender
Annie Sun (Short Hills, N.J.) was denied, but Stepnowski was there to bury her first career goal. For Boosamra, she collected a bouncing puck in the slot on a pass from junior
Emily Hamann (Marlborough, Mass.) and scored.
Â
Reghan Chadwick answered almost immediately for Holy Cross with the first and only goal of the night for the home side. Harvard got the goal back before the end of the second as senior
Maria Pape (Shaker Heights, Ohio) scored on a rebound to become the fifth Crimson goal scorer of the night.
Â
In net, sophomore
Isabelle Whynot (Newmarket, Ont.) made her sixth career start and tallied 24 saves in the win. For the Crusaders, Jorinde Heller posted 34 saves.
