Danielson, Montgomery Ready for ICSA Women’s Singlehanded National Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard Sailing duo of Kate Danielson and Grace Montgomery is set to compete at the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship. The two-day, 18-sailor regatta will take place Saturday and Sunday in Larchmont, New York.

Danielson and Montgomery secured two of 12 at-large berths to the national championship in late October after impressive showings at the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship. Danielson, a junior, was the runner-up at the event, while the first-year Montgomery came in fifth.

Danielson is slated to make her third appearance in as many years at the national regatta. The Florida native finished in fourth place as a first-year (2024) before coming in third a season ago. Montgomery, meanwhile, is set to make her debut and follows in the footsteps of her sister, Sophia Montgomery '26, who competed three times at the event (2022, 2024, 2025) and won in 2022 and 2024.

Both athletes are looking to become the third different Harvard women's sailor to win the singlehanded national championship and provide the program with its fifth overall women's title. Margaret Gill '02 won in 1999 and 2001, with Montgomery winning the other two times.
