CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 8 women's water polo opens CWPA play this weekend with a four-game weekend at Bucknell University.
Beginning with the host Bisons on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., the Crimson closes the day with Saint Francis at 2:30 p.m. before closing the weekend with No. 16 Michigan at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday and Mercyhurst at noon. All games will be streamed on the Bucknell Athletics YouTube page.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Out of the teams in the top eight in the most recent CWPA poll, Harvard and Stanford are the only two teams that are currently undefeated.
- Niki Piovan and Orli Cooper took home CWPA weekly awards last week after impressive performances in Philadelphia in the most recent outing for the Crimson.
- Piovan finished the weekend with 12 goals and six assists in three games to earn the second weekly honor for the sophomore this season.
- Orli Cooper won her third Defensive Player of the Week nod after 39 saves in three games.
- At the Wildcat Invite, the Crimson beat both No. 22 Wagner and No. 23 California Baptist on Saturday before beating the host Wildcats on Sunday.
- It marked the first time all season that Harvard had scored 15+ goals in three straight games after putting up 16 against Wagner, 15 against CBU, and 18 against Villanova.
- Last season, Harvard went 10-2 in conference games with its only two losses coming to Michigan and Princeton.
- Harvard beat the Red Flash 17-9 and 18-1 last season. The Crimson also beat the Lakers by a score of 20-2 in game one before another 20-goal outburst in game two en route to a 20-3 win.
- Against the Bisons, Harvard won 18-4 and 18-5.
