CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's basketball (15-9, 8-3 Ivy) held Cornell (8-16, 3-8 Ivy) to its lowest scoring output of the season as it cruised to a 74-37 victory this evening in Lavietes Pavilion.
Karlee White led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting while also tallying five rebounds and three steals.
Katie Krupa also reached double figures with 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting.
How it Happened
The Crimson pulled in front early by holding the Big Red to just one field goal through the first seven and a half minutes to lead 11-2. White went to work quickly, tallying eight of her points in the first ten minutes. Four other Harvard players got on the score sheet in the first frame to lead 17-8.
Harvard blew open the game in the second quarter as a 14-2 run gave the Crimson a 32-10 lead. White tallied 14 more points to total 22 first half points and the Crimson outscored the Big Red 26-12 to hold a 23-point advantage heading into the locker room.
The Big Red tallied six points in the first two and a half minutes but then the Crimson outscored the foe 17-5 throughout the remainder of the frame. Six Harvard players notched points in the frame for an even scoring attack for the Crimson.
Harvard's defense held the Big Red to its lowest scoring output of the game in the fourth quarter, giving up just six points as the foe went 2-of-12 from the field and ultimately securing a 37-point victory.
Harvard Highlights
- Karlee White tallied double figures for the 10th straight contest with her fourth 20+ point performance of the year. The junior posted 24 points, five rebounds, and three steals against the Big Red.
- Katie Krupa posted her seventh double-figure outing of the season by adding 10 points on 50% shooting.
- Olivia Jones had an all-around performance with nine rebounds, eight points, seven assists, and two steals. The first-year notched her eight points on 4-of-7 shooting.
- Alayna Rocco was hitting from distance this evening, tallying nine points while shooting 3-of-4 from the three-point line.
- In nine minutes of action, Asani Ceaser dished out a career-high four assists.
- The Crimson held the Big Red to its lowest scoring output of the season by giving up just 37 points.
- Additionally, Harvard's defense forced 21 Big Red turnovers and capitalized for 25 points off Cornell's miscues.
- Harvard controlled play in the paint by outscoring the Big Red 40-12.
- The Crimson won the rebounding battle 39-21.
