Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men's Volleyball Puts Up Fight, Falls to No. 8 BYU

Cambridge, Mass. – Harvard Men's Volleyball put on a spirited performance in front of a packed, electric crowd but ultimately fell to No. 8 BYU on Saturday, February 7, at the Malkin Athletic Center. Entering the finale of the Harvard Invitational with momentum after a win over Merrimack the night before, the Crimson battled throughout, but the Cougars proved difficult to overcome.
Harvard dropped the opening set, 25–22, trailing BYU for much of the frame while matching the nation's eighth-ranked team point for point. Acknowledging the challenge ahead, the Crimson came out determined to play at their highest level against the nationally ranked opponent.
The Crimson showcased their resilience in a back-and-forth second set, jumping out to an early lead and pushing BYU to extra points before narrowly falling in a thrilling 29–27 finish. Harvard's defensive grit was on full display, with quick reactions and relentless effort extending rallies against BYU's powerful attack. Offensively, Zach Berty and Sawyer Nichols led the charge, consistently finding openings in the Cougars' defense.
Harvard Highlights
  • Sawyer Nichols tied his career high with 15 kills and hit .500, including a dominant opening set
  • Zach Berty added 10 kills while also posting a .500 hitting percentage
  • Brian Thomas recorded the third-most kills for Harvard, hitting an impressive .714 and contributing two block assists
  • The Crimson totaled seven service aces on the night
