Women’s Hockey’s Tournament Run Comes to a Close With Loss in Game Three of ECAC Quarterfinals

PRINCETON, N.J. – The 2025-26 Harvard women's hockey season has come to an end after the team fell in game three of the ECAC Tournament Quarterfinals to Princeton. The Tigers (23-9-0, 16-6-0 ECAC) skated away with a 5-1 win over the Crimson (16-15-3, 8-11-3 ECAC) in the decisive third game of what was a highly competitive series between the Ivy League foes. Emi Biotti scored the Crimson goal while Ainsley Tuffy made 39 saves to backstop the effort in the rubber match.

The Crimson's remarkable 2025-26 season ends after recording 16 wins and a number of impressive results throughout the campaign.

How it Happened

After splitting the first two games of the ECAC Quarterfinal series, the eighth-seeded Harvard Crimson and the second-seeded Princeton Tigers met on the ice at Hobey Baker Rink for the rubber match. With the series tied at 1-1, the winner of game three would take the series and move on to the semifinal round of the ECAC Championship at Lake Placid next weekend.

Princeton put the pressure on Harvard early in the first period, building momentum with a series of long possessions in the Harvard zone. The push by the Tigers was subdues by the Crimson defense, who matched the effort after six saves by Ainsley Tuffy and six blocked shots in the first 11 minutes of the contest. The Tigers finally broke through, scoring two goals in the opening period to take a 2-0 lead into the intermission. Tuffy finished the period with 14 saves and Harvard put five shots of its own but could not get one across in the frame.

The Tigers kept pushing in the second period, scoring back-to-back goals early in the frame to build a 4-0 lead on Harvard. The Crimson kept fighting, however, and went on to score its first goal of the game to end the Tiger run. Emi Biotti found the back of the net off a terrific feed from Zoe Boosamra in transition. Princeton added its fifth goal of the game in the second frame to take a 5-1 lead into the second intermission.

Harvard looked to rally in the third period and strung together a series of strong scoring chances early in the frame. Zoe Boosamra hit the post on a great opportunity followed by a pair of looks on the powerplay but the Tiger defense stood tall to keep Princeton's lead intact. The Tigers weathered a storm of shots in the final period to skate off with a 5-1 win, taking the series, two games to one.
