SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Harvard men's tennis continued its west coast trip with a showdown against San Diego, as the Crimson fell just short in a 5-2 match against the Toreros in the Golden State.
Harvard started its contest against San Diego on the front foot, kicking action off by earning the doubles point. In a back-and-forth affair,
Benjamin Privara and
Nathan Blokhin outlasted San Diego's Vincent Marysko and Oliver Tarvet in a 7-6 match that was decided by a 7-4 tiebreaker in favor of the Crimson. Harvard locked up the doubles point shortly after, as
Rohan Murali and
Kolos Kincses dispatched San Diego's Manvydas Balciunas and Stan Klaassen, 6-4.
From there, the hosts earned the win by taking five of the six singles matches. After helping the Crimson take the doubles point earlier, Blokhin returned to the court to defeat Marysko in straight games, 7-6, 6-4.
