CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior
Jimmy Harrington earned an upset, overtime win in the first round at 157 pounds on Thursday at Rocket Arena on day one of the 2026 NCAA Championships, booking a spot in the second day of the tournament on Friday.
Competing at the home of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, the No. 20 seeded Harrington earned a 4-1 win in sudden victory over No. 13 Derek Raike of Ohio before dropping a fall in 2:42 to No. 4 seed Kaleb Larkin of Arizona State in the second round.
In his victory in the first round, Harrington opened the bout's scoring with an escape less than 10 seconds into the second period. After Raike notched an escape to start the third frame, the bout went to overtime tied at 1-1. In sudden victory, Harrington registered a takedown at the 1:24 mark to earn a win at NCAAs for the second straight season.
Next, Harrington will face No. 19 Kai Owen of Columbia in the consolation second round on Friday. Friday's opening session begins at noon (ESPN+/ESPNU).
